Update on Geodyssey and related activities:
Data
LG is assisting with packaging of data for app developers
This includes a review of data and recommendations for data management going forward
Meeting was held between CP-C and LG to discuss what needs to be done.
LG received data on 2 February 2026. Review in progress.
The following data is under review:
RSA 1:250K Geology and related SACS (South African Committee for Stratigraphy) tables
Various datasets for geosites throughout South Africa.
The only available format for the Council for Geoscience (CGS) dataset is a PDF of scanned pages of a document discovered by CP-C during the rationalization of the GSSA archives. CP-C to look at digitizing the data. SC will look to see whether he can find any digital versions (spreadsheet) of the report / data. There was apparently a web-based database maintained by CGS but there is some doubt as to the completeness of this dataset.

The developer has been away for a few weeks and as a result, no progress has been made on the development side. CP-C to follow up shortly.
